Architecture Events (“we,” “us,” or “the platform”) connects architects, engineers, contractors, manufacturers, designers, and BIM/VDC professionals through event listings, brand spotlights, and industry newsletters. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account as an Attendee or Organizer, we collect your full name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash — we never store or have access to your plain-text password). Organizer accounts also include an organization name, website, and phone number. Attendee accounts may include a professional role and the event categories or locations you choose to follow.

Event listing information. When you submit an event, we collect the event details you provide — title, description, dates, location or online link, pricing, registration URL, and a contact name/email/phone for that specific listing — along with any images or video you upload as the event thumbnail or gallery, which are hosted through our media provider, Cloudinary.

Payment information. Featured Listing upgrades are a one-time paid add-on processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles the transaction and shares back only what we need to track the request (payment status, an anonymized reference ID, and receipt metadata).

Messages & inquiries. If you contact us through the Contact or Advertise pages, we collect the name, email, subject, and message you submit, plus any reply thread that follows, so our team can respond to you by email.

Newsletter. If you subscribe to event updates (from the homepage, footer, or during Attendee sign-up), we collect your email address and share it with our email provider, Brevo, solely to send you that newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time — every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.

Cookies. We use one strictly necessary session cookie (ae_session) to keep you signed in, and a short-lived cookie during password resets. Both are essential to the site working and are not used for advertising or analytics — we do not currently run third-party analytics or ad-tracking scripts on the platform.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and maintain your account, and to tell Organizer and Attendee accounts apart from Admin accounts for access control.
  • To review, publish, and moderate submitted event listings, including sending you status updates (submitted, approved, changes requested, rejected) by email.
  • To process Featured Listing payments and, where a Featured request is declined, to issue the corresponding Stripe refund.
  • To send account-related emails — email verification codes, password reset codes, and replies to messages you've sent us.
  • To send the newsletter to subscribers who opted in, and to honor unsubscribe requests.
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

3. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the platform work, each acting under their own privacy and security commitments:

  • Stripe — payment processing for Featured Listing upgrades and refunds.
  • Brevo — sending transactional email (account verification, password reset, message replies, event status notifications) and the newsletter.
  • Cloudinary — hosting images and video uploaded for event listings.
  • Our hosting and database infrastructure providers, who store the data described above on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes.

Published event listings (title, description, dates, location, images, and the listing contact details you choose to display) are public by design — that's the purpose of the platform — and are visible to any visitor browsing Architecture Events.

4. Data retention

We keep account and event data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited records (e.g. payment/refund history) to meet legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations.

5. Your rights & choices

  • Access or update your account details from your dashboard at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter via the link in any newsletter email.
  • Request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by emailing hello@architectureevents.com.
  • Withdraw consent for a specific data use where we've relied on your consent (e.g. newsletter opt-in) without affecting the lawfulness of anything already done.

6. Children's privacy

Architecture Events is intended for working professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

7. Security

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Sessions are authenticated with an HTTP-only cookie that isn't accessible to page scripts, and payment details never touch our servers — they go directly to Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Architecture Events after a change means you accept the revised policy.
